Read a French supermarket receipt: TVA, remise and total

A real-looking French supermarket receipt: items, a loyalty discount, deposit, VAT lines and payment. Work out what you paid and what you saved.

In short

A French ticket de caisse lists items and prices, then remises (discounts), the TOTAL TTC (tax included), the payment method (CB = bank card) and a TVA summary. Prix au kg lines show weighed products.

Receipts use capitals and abbreviations because the printer line is short: DEMI-ÉCRÉMÉ (semi-skimmed), ÉCO (economy range), PROMO. At the till you'll hear Vous avez la carte du magasin ? (do you have the store card?) and Vous voulez le ticket ?
