De façon à and de manière à: practise “so as to”

Use de façon à and de manière à with an infinitive to express an aim. Arrange a room, compare pour que and practise eight purpose phrases.

In short

De façon à and de manière à mean “so as to” or “in such a way as to”. Follow either with an infinitive: Parle lentement de façon à être compris. These phrases explain how an action serves an aim; use pour que plus a subjunctive clause when you want to name a different subject.

Je parle lentement pour que tu comprennes.I speak slowly so that you understand.
