B1 French reading: a newspaper correction (rectificatif)

A rectificatif fixes one detail, not the whole article. Read the announcement, then the correction, and sort every fact into changed, unchanged or not yet known.

Lundi — l’annonce

L’exposition « Fenêtres du quartier » ouvrira1 le 12 septembre dans la grande salle du centre culturel. Une rencontre avec les photographes aura lieu le même jour à 17 heures. L’association Images proches organise le projet avec les habitants.

Mercredi — rectificatif

Une erreur s’est glissée2 dans notre édition de lundi. L’exposition sera installée dans la salle du jardin, au rez-de-chaussée3 du même centre, et non4 dans la grande salle. La date d’ouverture reste fixée5 au 12 septembre, et le nom de l’association était exact. Nous vous présentons nos excuses.

En revanche6, l’heure de la rencontre avec les photographes n’est pas encore confirmée. Le centre publiera cette information dès qu’elle sera disponible7.

Monday, the announcement: The exhibition “Neighbourhood Windows” will open on 12 September in the cultural centre’s large room. A meeting with the photographers will take place the same day at 5 pm. The association Images proches is organising the project with local residents.

Wednesday, correction: A mistake crept into our Monday edition. The exhibition will be set up in the garden room, on the ground floor of the same centre, and not in the large room. The opening date stays set for 12 September, and the association’s name was correct. We apologise. On the other hand, the time of the meeting with the photographers is not yet confirmed. The centre will publish it as soon as it is available.

Two little words do the work: et non marks the fact being replaced, and reste marks a fact that still stands. Pas encore confirmée means the time is open, not that the meeting is cancelled.
