B1 French reading: an announcement and its update

Read two French drawing-workshop notices, track the changed room and materials, then choose the right message for a friend. B1 practice with glosses.

In short

Read the update alongside the first notice. Carry forward details such as à la même heure, replace the changed room and keep the materials condition. Your final message should tell a friend where to go, when to arrive and what to bring.

Read it in English

On Saturday 8 June, our drawing session will take place in the courtyard at 10 am. Bring your sketchbook and a pencil. The workshop will begin by observing the plants, then everyone will choose a detail to draw. If the location changes, we will publish a message on Friday evening.

Friday’s message: The courtyard will be used for a delivery. Meet us in the glass-fronted room at the same time. We will observe the plants through the windows before drawing. People without a sketchbook can use the paper available on site; please bring a pencil.

What will you use at the workshop?

How do you follow changes in a French announcement?

Read the phrases, then combine them

The time phrase points back to the first notice, so you need both texts. The activity also continues: people still observe plants and draw, but they observe through the windows. The update makes paper available to those without a sketchbook and repeats the request to bring a pencil.

Now write your own update

Send a three-sentence message to a different friend who already has a sketchbook and pencil. Include the place, time and changed observation point. Then point to the words in the notices that support each sentence. Keep your message short enough to read on the way to the workshop.
