In short
Choose a link that names the relationship between ideas: pourtant marks a contrast, autrement dit reformulates, and par conséquent introduces a result. An evaluation should point to an observed change, such as fewer tools being misplaced during a trial.

| Meaning | French pattern | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Support an explanation | en effet | Le passage est encombré. En effet, trois vélos y sont garés. |
What changes in the bicycle workshop

Inès is an apprentice in a bicycle repair workshop. Her proposal changes where tools wait during a repair. Complete 12 links and evaluative expressions, using the cue’s precise meaning. Watch how the final decision stays within what the trial actually showed.
(in his view; two words), les bacs risquent d’occuper trop de place. Inès reconnaît cette difficulté. (however; one word beginning with Tout), elle précise qu’elle propose seulement un essai sur deux établis. (in other words; two words), il s’agit de comparer deux façons de travailler, pas de réorganiser tout l’atelier.
Denis accepte. L’équipe pourra faire l’essai (on condition of; followed by an infinitive) garder le passage libre. (as a first step; four words), Inès prépare deux bacs et explique leur usage. Les mécaniciens trouvent plus vite leurs outils. (on the other hand; two words), les grosses pièces entrent mal dans les bacs.
(at the end of; begin with À l’issue) la semaine, les mécaniciens comparent leurs notes.
Read it in English
In a bicycle repair workshop, Inès notices that the mechanics often look for the same tools. The storage system has not changed for years. Yet everyone says the system works well. Inès proposes one tray per repair. The tools would then remain near the relevant bicycle instead of moving from one workbench to another.
Denis, the workshop manager, hesitates. In his view, the trays could take up too much space. Inès acknowledges this difficulty. However, she explains that she is only proposing a trial on two workbenches. In other words, the idea is to compare two ways of working, rather than reorganise the entire workshop.
Denis agrees. The team can run the trial provided it keeps the passage clear. As a first step, Inès prepares two trays and explains how to use them. The mechanics find their tools faster. On the other hand, large parts do not fit well in the trays. The team decides to leave those parts on a separate shelf.
At the end of the week, the mechanics compare their notes. They have to acknowledge that tools are misplaced less often on the two workbenches tested. The result is encouraging insofar as the new storage method addresses the problem observed. Consequently, Denis extends the trial by a fortnight before deciding for the whole workshop.
