The library was almost empty. Behind the large windows, the rain traced long lines on the glass. Léa was looking for a notebook she had left on a table the previous day. At last she recognised its blue cover, approached and picked it up. An envelope fell out of the notebook.

Léa opened the envelope. A sheet of paper bore a single sentence: “Thank you for your help.” There was neither name nor address. Someone had added a small drawing in a corner. Léa smiled, then looked around. Nobody seemed to be watching her.

She put the letter in the notebook and put the notebook back in her bag. Outside, it was still raining. She went out without knowing whom she should reply to.
