Ask in French for a file to be resent as a PDF or editable version. Practise naming the attachment, explaining its use and confirming the replacement.

Identify the attachment

Name the file so the sender can pick it out from the email.

YouMerci pour votre courriel. Je n’arrive pas à ouvrir la pièce jointe intitulée « Programme de jeudi ».Thank you for your email. I can’t open the attachment entitled “Thursday programme”.

How do you ask for a file in another format in French?

Choose the pronoun for the noun you used

le fichier	Pourriez-vous me le renvoyer ?	Could you resend the file?
les documents	Pourriez-vous me les renvoyer ?	Could you resend the documents?

Renvoyer means to send again; envoyer means to send. In me la renvoyer, me names the recipient and la replaces the attachment. Both pronouns go before the infinitive. Dans un autre format leaves the choice open; en PDF names the requested format.
