Nora arrives at the checkout with her basket. She puts her purchases on the conveyor belt, then adds the divider. The cashier passes the items in front of the scanner. Nora opens her reusable bag in the bagging area. “How are you paying?” asks the cashier. “By card, please.” Nora holds her card near the terminal. She then packs the bread and milk in her bag and takes her receipt.
achats: purchases; ticket de caisse: receipt.
La caisse can mean the checkout or the till. Les pièces here means coins; a banknote is un billet. For payment, use par carte or en espèces (in cash). A receipt is un ticket de caisse; une recette is a recipe.
