What does laisser tomber mean?

On termine ensemble ! »

Read it in English

It has been raining since this morning. Léa looks outside and says, “Let’s drop the picnic. Come to my place: we’ll prepare the club poster.” Nora and Samir accept.

At Léa’s, everyone settles in. Samir puts his notebook on the table, but it slips and falls. “I dropped my notebook!” His pen rolls onto the floor too. Nora helps him pick everything up, then moves a glass away from the table’s edge.

Léa hesitates between two colours for a small star. “Leave that detail for now,” says Nora. “Let’s write the title first.” Samir then suggests a very complicated drawing. After a few attempts, the friends decide, “We’re dropping the big drawing. A small star is enough.”

The title still needs finishing. “Don’t let me down!” Léa asks her two friends. “I still need your help.” They smile: “We’re not letting you down. Let’s finish together!”
