Pourtant（“却”“尽管如此”）和 cependant（“然而”）把一个陈述与前面意思相反的观点联系起来。可以写 Le texte est court. Pourtant, il est difficile 或 Le texte est pourtant difficile。这些副词保留正常的主语—动词语序。
