The organiserParce que le nombre de participants est limité.Because the number of participants is limited.
YouJe comprends mieux, merci.I understand better now, thank you.
4

One word is too broad

Préciser can make an already correct statement more specific.

The organiserJe parle des personnes qui commencent le français cette année.I mean people who are starting French this year.

How do you say “explain something to someone” in French?

Keep the recipient after à, or use a pronoun
Full phraseWith a pronoun
J’explique la règle à Nora.Je lui explique la règle.
J’explique la règle aux élèves.Je leur explique la règle.

The person receives the explanation; the rule is what you explain. For a direct request to a friend, say Explique-moi la règle, s’il te plaît. In a statement, put the pronoun before the verb: Elle m’explique la règle.

An explanation can also add precision: Elle explique le programme, puis précise les horaires. Choose the verb that highlights your purpose. Une explication is an explanation; une précision is a specific detail or clarification. A clarification can add a missing limit even when the first statement was accurate.
