Karim a alors proposé « Les Images retrouvées ».
Read it in English
Manon had finished her first short film. For six minutes, a young woman looked at childhood images on a screen. Sometimes her face appeared, sometimes the old photographs. Manon had chosen the title “The Return”. She invited Karim to a first screening in her living room.
Before the film, Karim expected to see a character return home after a long journey. After the screening, he stayed silent for a moment. “I like the photographs,” he said, “but I was still waiting for the character to leave or arrive.”
Manon explained her idea: she wanted to evoke a return to memories. Karim then suggested “The Rediscovered Images”. She wrote down his suggestion, then reread the titles in her notebook. “I prefer ‘In Front of the Screen’. You understand where the character is, but you can still ask questions.”
The next day, Manon replaced the title in the credits. She kept the same images and soundtrack. At a second screening, Karim smiled: “This time, I’m mainly watching the young woman’s face. I’m looking for what she feels.” Manon closed her notebook. The title was finally chosen.
